Brock Commits To Ardley - 20 April

Chairman Norman Stacey has expressed his delight after manager Kevin Brock agreed to stay at the club.

Extra Time Disappointment - 20 April

Ardley United U18's played in the Oxfordshire Joe Roughton U'18 Youth Cup final at Carterton last night against Oxford City U18's. With the game at 3-3 at full time City went on to score three additional goals in extra time to seal a 6-3 victory.

2011/12 League Season Signed Off - 15 April

Fairford Town, struggling in the relegation zone, pulled themselves off the bottom of the table yesterday with a shock 2-1 win against Ardley

United's season is now complete, finishing in a creditable third place in the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League Premier Division.

On Thursday night the U'18's also completed their Allied Counties League Season, losing 4-3 in a competitive battle at Hollmer Green. But the club will be travelling to Carterton on Thursday night where the Under 18's play their final game of the season against Oxford City in the final of the Oxfordshire FA Joe Roughton U'18 Youth Cup.

Brooks Hat Trick - 10 April

Ryan Brooks netted three in front of a crowd of 265 at The ASM Stadium yesterday. The hatrick plus an own goal in the last minute gave Ardley another convincing win against Thame United. Final score Thame United 1 Ardley United 4.. . . . match report

Oxfordshire Joe Roughton U'18 Youth Cup - 9 April

The inaugural season of Youth Football at Ardley completes on April 19 at Carterton when the newly formed Ardley United team meet Oxford City in the final of the Oxfordshire FA Joe Roughton U'18 Youth Cup - kick off 7.30pm.

The Cup journey started in November with the team winning games against Quarry Rovers, Bloxham and Thame United along the way.

Ardley Exit OFA Semi With Full Credit - 13 March

A goal for Oxford City in the opening minutes and another in the closing minutes saw them go through to the OFA Senior Cup final, but it could have gone either way as Ardley played an excellent game of football against their Step 3 Opponents. OFA Senior Cup Semi-Final - 10 March

With no game scheduled this weekend, the players will all be looking to Tuesday night when they meet Southern League promotion contenders Oxford City, in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-final at the ASM Stadium Thame.

Ardley United have been drawn against Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division promotion challengers, Oxford City, in the semi final of the Oxfordshire FA Senior Cup. The Nomads, who are contending with Ardley for the Hellenic title, are effectively Oxford City's Reserves team in all but name and constitution.

The semi-final is scheduled to take place at Thame United's ground on or before March 16.

Draw At Sara's - 4 March

One point for Ardley, earned from a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Saracens yesterday, means Oxford City Nomads move into top spot of the Uhlsport Hellenic Fooball League Premier Division. Ardley United's attention will be drawn to the Kassam Stadium straight after the away game at Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday.

Table Update - 26 February

Without a game for Ardley this weekend it gave the chamionship opponents a chance to catch up on games played. Oxford City Nomads won against Bracknell and are now two points behind Ardley but now having played the same number of games. Shortwood were again involved in Cup competition, meaning they now have six games in hand over the top two.

Ardley Out Of Bluefin Challenge Cup - 22 February

Highworth Town won the first half 3-1, Ardley managed to defend the second half but a second goal of the game from Troy Bryan was not enough to change events.

So it's the league title and the County Cup left for United to concentrate on for the remainder this season.

With no game for Ardley this weekend, the next contest is the OFA County Cup on Tuesday 28.

Eight Goal Contest - 19 February

After the enforced weather break, goals galore in the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League Premier Division match at the Playing Fields yesterday.

United and The Satusmas battled out a goal flurry contest with Ardley scoring five, two from Ben Thomas, and one each from Matt Brandish, Stuart Bridges and Ryan Brooks. . . . match report

Fixtures Back On Track - 13 February

Hellenic League fixtures secretary Dave Jesson has worked the oracle with fixtures over the weekend. League football now takes place on Saturday 18 February with the match that was postponed last weekend, Ardley v Wokingham & Embrook, re-arranged for this coming Saturday.

The Shortwood United fixture has now been scheduled for Tuesday April 3. Well done to Dave Jesson.

Weather Problems Bite - 12 February

The "Big Freeze" is now having a knock on affect to Ardley's schedule. Shortwood were unable to fulfil their FA Carlsberg Vase 5th Round fixture against Northern League Ashington, as the Vase takes precedence over League fixtures it means the scheduled fixture against Ardley on Saturday 18 February will now be re-arranged. A key league game for Ardley that will have to wait, but all success to The Wood in The Vase next Saturday.

The Wokingham & Emmbrook fixture which was postponed yesterday is also subject to advice on re-scheduling. That leaves Headington Amateurs in the OFA Senior Cup due to be played on Tuesday night at The Playing Fields, which is now under threat of postponement through the weather.

New Challenge Cup Date - 6 February

With the entire Hellenic League programme wiped out by icy conditions on Saturday, the date for the Bluefin Insurers Hellenic League Challenge Cup 3rd Round fixture away to Highworth Town has been re-arranged for Tuesday February 21.

Next up in the League is Wokingham & Emmbrook at home on Saturday 11 February, with the Youth team in action at Kidlington on Thursday 9 February.

Oxfordshire Senior Cup Draw - 4 January

Ardley have been drawn against Headington Amateurs for the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Quarter Final tie. Although it is an away fixture, as the A's do not have a floodlit ground the fixture will be played at Ardley.

Headington Amateurs Chairman, Don Light, advises. "After discussions between myself and Norman Stacey we have agreed to play this tie at Ardley on Tuesday 14th February 2012 7:30 pm KO. I have agreed with Norman that we will continue to treat this as a home tie for Headington. We have also informally agreed on sharing of expenses."

Ardley Start 2012 Top Of The Table -2 January 2012

With last Friday night's game being called off through to the Oxford City pitch being unplayable, it means that Ardley enter the 2012 part of the season next Saturday ( 7 January ) with a home fixture against Ascot United.

But Ardley enter the New Year at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League Premier Division table with a nine point cushion between us and our nearest rivals. United have played more games than the chasing pack, but as long as we keep the consistency. Could 2012 could be the year?

Still a long way to go and a lot of football to be played, so we won't be counting any chickens!

This is the first meeting between the two sides this season, Ardley took the honours in league fixtures between the two clubs last season. Job Done (Part One) - 13 November

As Kevin Brock intimated on this site prior to the match, the Lillywhites could not be taken for granted, and there was a job to be done at Henley yesterday. A hard job it proved to be, with the scores level at 3-3 along with Henley displaying a latter stage upper hand it took a match winner from Ryan Brooks five minutes from the end to make it job done.

However it is only the first section of the work in hand to be completed as both teams meet again at the Playing Fields next Saturday. . . . . match report

Just Like Waiting For A Bus! - 11 November

The last time Ardley United and Henley Town locked horns in League competition was in March 2006, after a nigh on six year wait they now face each other twice in a week!

Though Ardley manager Kevin Brock will not be taking the ride lightly, The Lillywhites have shown in their previous games this season they can cause an upset. It has to be said that their form away from home has produced more points for them than those played at the Triangle Ground, twelve of their fourteen points this season have achieved on the road. Ardley also have a solid away performance record with only one loss in eight away games.

Brock takes no opposition team for granted, and despite the 6-0 trouncing of Shrivenham who are five places above Henley in the table, when his side enter the field of play tomorrow they will be fully aware there is a job to be done.

Vase Action Tomorrow - 21 October

It's FA Vase action at The Playing Field tomorrow when fellow Hellenic Premier Division counterparts Reading Town take on United.

Reading feel they were unlucky not to have won here in the league on September 13 , going two up before Ardley grabbed a point with the equaliser coming in stoppage time. Reading Town manager Mark Bartley has said in the local press: "We know we should have come away with all three points that day, so we have got a score to settle tomorrow."

It's Ardley's first outing in the competition this season, whilst Reading have played two previous rounds defeating Harefield United and Aylesbury United, both with the home advantage for Town. If the game ends in a draw, the replay will be at Scours Lane next Tuesday, 25 October. Which will mean the league game scheduled for that night will be re-scheduled. Carl Standen will not feature tomorrow as he serves a one match suspension.

Will It Be Port Or Whine? - 29 September

Holyport visit The Playing Fields on Saturday, a club that has tested and taken the spoils against Ardley on more than one occasion in the past 12 months, proving to be somewhat of a bogey side.

Though newly promoted to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division this season, Port met United twice in Cup games last season and proved a lot of pundits wrong. In September 2010, the then Division One team, achieved a 2-1 victory at Ardley. That was followed with a 3-1 win last May in the The 'Bluefin' - Insurance Brokers Challenge Cup Final.

The two sides last met on Bank Holiday Monday at Port's Summerleaze Ground, where Ardley took the spoils with a 3-1 victory. Buoyed by win last weekend at Highworth and a seven goal trouncing of Bracknell mid week, Ardley are in a positive frame of mind, but you can be assured that Kevin Brock will not be taking Holyport lightly and will be drumming that into his team. With Ardley now fifth place in the table and Port two places below, Saturday's game at The Playing Fields has the promise of being a good one to watch.
